Explore the World of Risograph Printing

Discover the vibrant and unpredictable art of Risograph printing in this hands-on workshop. Whether you’re a curious first-time printer, an emerging or professional graphic designer, illustrator, zine maker, photographer, or hobbyist, this course invites you to experiment with bold colours, playful mis-registrations, and the unique quirks that make RISO prints so distinctive. Often described as sitting between silkscreen and photocopying, Risograph printing is fast, affordable, and always one-of-a-kind.

Over the course, you’ll be introduced to the Risograph duplicator and its creative processes. You’ll learn how to prepare files, separate colour layers, and experiment with spot colours, textures, and overlays to produce work with that unmistakable RISO look. Expect to create a portfolio of vibrant experimental pieces, including posters, greeting cards, and a multi-page zine.

Guided in small groups, you’ll be encouraged to explore the medium playfully while building technical skills. By the end of the workshop, you’ll walk away with a collection of RISO-printed projects and the confidence to continue developing your own editions.

Places are strictly limited. The course fee includes all materials, including paper, ink, and access to NMTAFE’s RISO studio and colour drum library. A complete OHS induction will also be provided before you begin working in the space.
