Our general scholarships are now closed and will be available again Semester 1, 2025.

North Metropolitan TAFE is committed to providing education and training opportunities for the whole community.

We offer a range of student scholarships each year to support our students financially, so that you can achieve excellence in your academic and career endeavours.

Equity Scholarship

Number of scholarships available

The Equity Scholarship is provided to recipients who clearly demonstrate that the scholarship will reduce barriers and improve accessibility to their chosen NMTAFE course of study.  Personal hardship will also be taken into consideration when assessing applications. Examples include: 

  • Personal medical conditions  
  • Disabilities or learning needs  
  • Dependents with special needs.

Ex-Defence Personnel Scholarship

Up to five (5)

Amount of scholarship

$2,500

The Ex-Defence Force Personnel Scholarship is provided to applicants who can provide evidence that they are:

  • An Ex-serving Australian Defence Force (ADF) member or;
  • An ADF member in active or inactive reserve forces or;
  • A current ADF serving members about to transition/separate within 3-6 months.
Special eligibility conditions

Only ex Defence Personnel can apply for this scholarship.


 

Gender Access Scholarship

Up to five (5)

Amount of scholarship

The Gender Access Scholarship is provided to recipients to reduce gender imbalance and promote diversity in student cohort. Examples include the promotion of women in trades and STEM and/or men in health and education. The scholarship will be utilised to reduce barriers and improve accessibility to their chosen course of study which is in a non-traditional area for them.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship is provided to applicants who identify as an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, and be recognised as such by their community.

Special eligibility conditions

Only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students can apply for this scholarship.


 

STEM Scholarship

Our Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Scholarship is provided to applicants who clearly demonstrate that the scholarship will be used to reduce barriers and improve accessibility to study and/or work within the Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics industry.

Kickstart Scholarship

Up to twenty (20)

The Kickstart Scholarship of $500 is open to all NMTAFE applicants and is provided to recipients who clearly demonstrate that the scholarship will reduce barriers and improve accessibility to their chosen course of study

Women in Non-Traditional Trades and Technical Occupations Scholarship

The Women in Non-traditional Trades and Technical Occupations Scholarship Program (WiNTT) initiative is designed to improve women’s economic participation and equality in the workforce by increasing female participation in traditionally male dominated roles such as building and construction and science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). 

The scholarships can be used to cover training costs and other associated expenses to support the participants from pre-enrolment to completion and connecting to appropriate job opportunities where possible.

WA Digital Inclusion Project Scholarship Program

Number of scholarships available

Up to one hundred (100)

About

Australian citizens or permanent residents are being offered the opportunity to apply for a scholarship to complete one or two skill sets in digital literacy, with a focus on gaining job ready skills, at NMTAFE’s Leederville campus in Terms 1, 2 or 3 of 2024.

Register your interest for these Skill Sets (form).

As part of the scholarship, applicants may be eligible for a laptop (if you do not already have one); travel support; support with translators or interpreters; a free meal at each session; a $100 gift card upon completion of one skill set; and optional support sessions to help prepare you for work related activities.
