Skills Recognition is a formal process where you may be able to be deemed competent for units you're enrolling into, or are currently enrolled in, without having to re-learn or practice things you already know and do, and possibly gain your qualification quicker.
We can assess your skills and knowledge through one of the processes below.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Show the knowledge, skills or experience that you already have, and get official recognition from North Metropolitan TAFE.
Trade Skills Recognition (TSR)
The Trade Skills Recognition (TSR) process provides a pathway for individuals who have gained substantial skills and experience through work in industry, but who have not completed a formal qualification. It acknowledges the competencies acquired on the job and offers an opportunity for these individuals to be formally recognised as tradespeople.
To be eligible, candidates must demonstrate competency in all units of a qualification through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
Recognition of Current Competency (RCC)
RCC is where you have previously successfully completed the requirements for a unit of competency and are now required to be reassessed to ensure that competency is being maintained (e.g. by a licencing authority).
Credit Transfer
If you have completed a unit previously, and it matches a unit you wish to study at North Metro TAFE, you could get this unit credited as part of your current course.
