Take your sculpting to the next level with this intermediate course
The Sculpt Loomis Busts short course is the next step after completing the Introduction to the Art of Sculpting a Bust short course. This five-week, intermediate-level course builds on the foundations of the introduction course and guides you through creating two life-sized reference busts: a foundational Loomis bust and a refined secondary planes bust, both developed to a stage ready for firing.
Over 2.5-hour weekly sessions, you’ll explore three complementary approaches:
- The Loomis Method for geometric proportions
- The Bridgman Method for anatomy and structure
- Robert Bodem’s Drawing in Space technique for sculptors
By combining these methods, you’ll deepen your understanding of head proportions, anatomy, and spatial relationships while refining planes, transitions, and forms. The busts you complete will serve as durable, long-term reference models to support your future portrait and figure sculpting practice.
