How On campus

Are you ready to dive into the creative processes behind designing and developing innovative products?

This course gives you the confidence to turn your ideas into real, tangible objects by guiding you through accessible 3D design tools and practical, hands-on prototyping. You’ll start by learning the fundamentals of how digital models are built and how simple shapes can be combined and modified to create more complex designs.

As you progress, you’ll experiment with designing your own objects, developing your ability to think spatially and translate sketches or ideas into workable 3D models. You’ll also learn how to refine your designs, improve their structure and usability, and prepare a prototype for production.

By the end of the course, you’ll be able to independently create, edit, and finalise basic 3D models that are ready for 3D printing, giving you a solid foundation for further exploration in digital design and making.

  • Apply a creative design process to develop simple 3D forms
  • Use beginner‑level 3D modelling tools to create digital models
  • Produce basic prototypes using 3D printing or similar fabrication methods
  • Create and refine visual design components to support 3D projects

I have the following attributes:

  • Creativity and a love of design
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Practical and technical ability
  • Intermediate computer skills and knowledge
