Are you ready to take your jewellery design skills to the next level and establish yourself as a creative professional?

The Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts (Jewellery Design) is designed for makers and designers like you, who want to move beyond technical proficiency and explore advanced design practice, critical thinking, and professional business skills.

This course challenges you to think creatively, experiment with materials and technology, and develop your own distinctive voice as a designer. Building on the skills gained at Diploma level, you’ll learn to lead projects from concept to exhibition, manage the business and professional aspects of a creative career, and produce a cohesive body of work that positions you as a confident, industry-ready jewellery designer.

Through a combination of studio practice, critical research, and professional projects, you will learn:

  • Originate and exhibit a substantial body of work that demonstrates your unique creative identity.
  • Apply advanced critical thinking to solve complex design problems in jewellery practice.
  • Extend your drawing and visualisation techniques to communicate concepts with clarity and impact.
  • Refine your bench skills and CAD/CAM expertise to achieve professional-level jewellery outcomes.
  • Design innovative products and manage the full realisation process from concept to finished work.
  • Engage in cultural research and art theory, situating your work within contemporary and historical jewellery contexts.
  • Develop professional and entrepreneurial skills, including project management, business practice, and client engagement.
  • Publicly present your work, preparing you for galleries, industry showcases, and commercial settings.

I have the following attributes:

  • Completed a Diploma of Visual Arts (Jewellery Design) or have equivalent industry experience.
  • Creativity and the ability to develop a distinctive artistic voice
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for exploring ideas, materials, and technologies
  • Interest in building and sustaining a creative career, including exhibiting work and collaborating with industry
  • Critical thinking and the ability to engage with design culture, theory, and the broader visual arts landscape
