Start your programming journey with the Basic Programming with Python Skill Set

Designed for beginners and non-programmers, you’ll develop practical skills in Python programming and scripting that you can use to automate simple tasks, work with data and solve problems. You’ll learn fundamental programming concepts, including writing and reading files, applying programming syntax and designing basic algorithms.

This skill set provides a strong foundation for further study in programming and information technology. You’ll build your logical thinking and problem-solving skills while gaining practical experience that can support your progression into further programming skill sets and contribute towards a Certificate IV in Information Technology.

  • Understand and apply basic Python programming syntax
  • Write simple Python scripts to automate tasks
  • Read from and write to files for data processing
  • Design and apply basic algorithms
  • Develop logical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Troubleshoot and test basic programs
  • Build foundational programming and scripting skills
  • Prepare for further study in programming and information technology
