This course will give you the skills, knowledge and behaviours, and a head start, in learning a trade.

This course is low fee* for residents of Western Australia and temporary residents holding certain visa types. An annual fee cap of $400 for those aged 15-24 or concession holders or $1,200 for everyone else, applies to this course. Some eligibility conditions apply for the low fee training and other fees may apply for some courses. Please refer to the FAQs(opens in a new tab) for more information.

Complete this pre-apprenticeship course and you'll have what employers will are looking for in an apprentice light vehicle automotive service and repair technician. It will give you the skills, knowledge and behaviours to make you more competitive and give you a flying start in learning a trade. Plus our strong links to the automotive industry may also help!
Automotive technicians work on the mechanical parts of motor vehicles, including the engine, transmission and suspension systems.
Enjoy quality facilities including modern vehicles, specialised diagnostic equipment, and fully equipped classrooms and workshops.
For successful completion of this course, you will be required to complete a work placement component.
- Carry out servicing operations
- Inspect and service engines, steering and suspension systems
- Repair single electrical circuits
- Use and maintain workplace tools and equipment
- Apply basic automotive troubleshooting processes
