Kick-start a career in Fabrication or Mechanical Engineering.

This course is part of our Koomba Bridal program, designed specifically for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates looking to start a career in Fabrication or Mechanical Engineering Trades. This course prepares you for entry into an apprenticeship, equipping you with the foundational skills employers are looking for.

You’ll learn through a hands-on program centred around a major project, building practical skills even if you don’t yet have access to a workplace. Delivered in a simulated work environment that mirrors real industry conditions, the course helps you develop confidence and capability before stepping onto a job site.

Throughout the program, you’ll gain a broad skill set informed by industry input, keeping you job-ready across sectors such as mining, shipbuilding, manufacturing, fabrication, and mechanical engineering. Whether your goal is to secure an apprenticeship or explore different pathways in the industry, this qualification provides a strong starting point.

The training focuses on developing trade-like skills rather than full trade-level competency. You’ll learn essential workplace safety practices, how to identify hazards, and standard workshop procedures -knowledge every future tradesperson needs.
