Complete this pre-apprenticeship and you'll be what employers are looking for in an apprentice glazier.

You'll gain skills and knowledge in basic glass and glazing techniques and have the opportunity to put your skills into practice in the workplace. You will learn from passionate lecturers with extensive trades experience in our fully equipped glazing workshop.

OLNA or NAPLAN 9 Band 8 C Grades in Year 10 English and Maths or equivalent Certificate I or Certificate II
This course is competitive so it is likely the number of applicants will exceed available places. When applying for this course you will need to show you have the minimum level reading, writing, and math skills, or certain qualifications, and meet selection criteria.

In line with the Department of Education's Alternatives to full-time schooling policy, to study this course starting in:
  • Semester 1 - you need to have turned 15 years old by January 31.
  • Semester 2 - you need to have turned 15 years old by June 30.

You'll be able to access your personal timetable (find out how on our Timetables page), once you have paid your fees.

Completion of this course will improve your chance of getting an apprenticeship.

Please note this list should be used as a guide only as job titles and qualification requirements may vary between organisations.

Successful completion of this qualification provides you with the opportunity to become an apprentice in the building and construction industry, but you need to be registered with the The Apprenticeship Office and employed.

As part of this qualification, you will undertake a supervised work placement where you will be able to apply the skills and knowledge you have learned in the workplace.

80 hours of work placement is mandatory for completion of this course. NMTAFE will arrange a suitable work placement within industry for you. 

Study outside of class hours, including private study, assignment preparation, and research will be required to successfully complete your course.

Bring your own device (BYOD) is encouraged but not essential. If you don’t have access to a computer and WiFi at home, we recommend using our library computers during library hours.

As a student you will also have additional costs associated with your study, for example text books and stationery, printing and other materials required for your assignments.

Additional costs for consideration:

  • Australian standard safety boots or shoes (must be leather)
  • Clear protective safety glasses that meet Australian standards
  • Long, drill cotton trousers and short sleeved shirt
