This apprenticeship offers the hands-on experience and solid foundation you need to build a successful career in carpentry and the broader construction industry. Develop the ability to construct key structural components such as pitched roofs, ceiling frames, and timber flooring.

This course is low fee* for residents of Western Australia and temporary residents holding certain visa types. An annual fee cap of $400 for those aged 15-24 or concession holders or $1,200 for everyone else, applies to this course. Some eligibility conditions apply for the low fee training and other fees may apply for some courses. Please refer to the FAQs(opens in a new tab) for more information.

How Apprenticeship

Build a strong career from the ground up

As an apprentice, you’ll gain the practical skills and knowledge needed to carry out a wide range of tasks in the building and construction industry. You'll learn how to safely and effectively use hand tools, power tools, and carpentry materials while working on real-world projects.

Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll develop the ability to construct key structural components such as pitched roofs, ceiling frames, and timber flooring. You’ll also learn how to read and interpret building plans and documentation.

Work health and safety (WHS) is a strong focus, ensuring you're trained to work safely and in line with industry standards and regulations.

The Certificate III in Carpentry is an apprenticeship; please see the Apprenticeships section for more information.

  • Safe use of hand and power tools
  • Handling and working with carpentry materials
  • Constructing pitched roofs
  • Building ceiling frames and timber flooring
  • Reading and interpreting building plans
  • Applying work health and safety (WHS) practices
