This course is low fee* for residents of Western Australia and temporary residents holding certain visa types. An annual fee cap of $400 for those aged 15-24 or concession holders or $1,200 for everyone else, applies to this course. Are you looking for a career making and fixing all things mechanical?

This apprenticeship will give you the skills and knowledge to work as a mechanical engineering tradesperson in the metal, engineering, manufacturing and related industries. It has been specifically developed as an apprenticeship pathway, providing the practical training and technical expertise needed to succeed in the trade.

Throughout the apprenticeship, you will learn how to fit, assemble, manufacture, install, modify, test, fault-find, maintain and service a wide range of mechanical equipment and machinery. You will also gain hands-on experience using machine tools, including lathes, milling machines and CNC machining equipment, while applying industry-standard practices in real-world engineering environments.

  • Safe manual handling

  • Have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Show the ability to follow instructions and Work Health and Safety (WHS) procedures.
  • Have good hand-eye coordination.
