Design security frameworks that strengthen organisations
Build the skills to design and implement the governance, risk and compliance (GRC) frameworks that organisations rely on to manage cyber security and business risk.
Working with a real-world Australian organisation as your case study throughout the course, you'll learn how to apply internationally recognised standards and best-practice approaches used by employers, auditors and regulators. You'll also explore the emerging field of AI governance alongside traditional information security governance, risk and compliance, providing skills that are increasingly sought after across industry.
Whether you're expanding your current responsibilities, preparing for a governance-focused cyber security role, or seeking a non-technical entry point into the industry, this course will help you understand how effective security frameworks support organisational resilience and compliance.
Delivered over 10 weeks with a two-hour session each week, this practical course takes you through the process of assessing organisational risks and developing the policies, controls and governance frameworks needed to address them.
On successful completion, you'll receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for ICTNWK549 Design ICT Security Frameworks.
- Identify an organisation’s security and AI governance requirements from its sector, data and regulatory obligations
- Identify and describe security risks, and rate them for likelihood and impact
- Build and maintain a risk register, and choose and justify a risk treatment
- Apply an organisation’s stated risk appetite, and know when a risk must be escalated
- Navigate the major international security standards and select the controls that apply
- Apply AI governance standards to organisations that build, supply or use AI systems
- Design practical controls covering data classification, access, human oversight and incident response
- Map controls across multiple frameworks to demonstrate compliance coverage
- Document and present a security framework to both technical and executive audiences
- You're working in IT and have recently taken on security, risk, governance, or compliance responsibilities
- You're a cyber security technician looking to progress into governance, risk, and advisory roles
- You're a manager, project officer, or business analyst who needs to understand security frameworks and organisational obligations
- You have strong general IT skills and are looking for a non-technical pathway into cyber security
- Your organisation is preparing for certification, an audit, or a client security assessment
No prior cyber security qualifications are required; this course provides an accessible introduction to security frameworks and practices.
