Build your expertise in the social housing and homelessness sector 

Do you work in housing, community services or support roles, and want to strengthen your skills in helping people sustain safe and secure housing? This skill set gives you the practical knowledge to support individuals and families who may be experiencing homelessness, at risk of losing their tenancy, or seeking new accommodation.

You’ll build the skills to work effectively with people experiencing homelessness, including those affected by domestic and family violence. You’ll also learn the processes that help tenants maintain sustainable housing, and how to support people who are looking for, or need assistance with, housing and accommodation.

This skill set will equip you with practical skills to help clients access accommodation and sustain tenancies within the public and community housing systems. It is ideal for current housing officers, or for those looking to enter the field with a strong foundation in trauma-informed, person-centred housing support. To enrol in this employer-based skill set, you must be employed in a suitable role and will be required to provide evidence at the time of enrolment.

  • Working with people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness
  • Supporting clients affected by domestic and family violence
  • Helping tenants maintain safe and sustainable tenancies
  • Providing guidance on housing and accommodation options
  • Connecting clients with appropriate housing services and resources
  • Applying trauma-informed and person-centred approaches in housing support
