A versatile software package with a wide range of uses
SolidWorks is a powerful 3D CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software widely used in engineering, product design, and manufacturing. This introductory course will give you the foundational skills to create, modify, and analyse 3D models using this software.
This short introduction course held at North Metropolitan TAFE's Midland Campus takes you through:
- Navigating the SolidWorks interface and workspace
- Introduction to the concepts and methodology of Design Intent
- Sketching fundamentals and geometric constraints
- Creating 3D parts using extrude, revolve, sweep, and loft features
- Assembly modelling and mating components
- Generating technical drawings and annotations
To be successful in this course you will need basic computer literacy. Familiarity with engineering or design concepts is helpful but not required, and you do not need any prior CAD experience.
- Confidently navigate and use core SolidWorks tools
- Create and edit 3D models and assemblies
- Produce professional-grade technical drawings
- Understand the workflow from concept to prototype
