What you need to know
Who can appeal?
North Metropolitan TAFE offers an appeals process to ensure that anyone affected by its decisions can seek a review where they believe a decision is unfair or incorrect.
What can be appealed?
You can appeal if you think:
- There was a mistake in how the decision was made (for example, a procedural error or incorrect assessment).
- New evidence has come to light that could change the outcome.
- You were treated unfairly or believe there was bias.
- The penalty or outcome was too harsh or not appropriate for the situation.
How to lodge an appeal
Step 1
Try informal resolution
Before submitting a formal appeal, you are encouraged to talk directly with the staff member involved to see if the issue can be resolved informally.

- All decisions and reasons will be provided to you in writing.
