What began as a Traineeship has grown into a permanent role and a well-earned promotion for Jackie, who recently completed a Certificate III in Business through North Metropolitan TAFE’s traineeship program.
Jackie commenced her traineeship journey in 2025, working as an administrative assistant/receptionist with Pilbara Meta Maya Regional Aboriginal Corporation (PMMRAC). Seeking a meaningful career change, Jackie saw the traineeship pathway as an opportunity to rebuild her professional future.
“I chose this training path as I had come to a crossroads in my career, I needed a sustainable change and chased a dream where the fire still burnt in my belly,” said Jackie.
“I was A FIFO wife, mother of three, with no qualifications, who previously failed to complete the qualification twice before. Returning to the workforce with no corporate experience or certificate, limited my options to entry level jobs.”
Through dedication, and a strong commitment to learning Jackie successfully completed the traineeship in under 12 months. Her achievement led to permanent employment with PMMRAC, and shortly afterwards, she was promoted to an Administration role within the Housing Team, supporting Aboriginal communities.
“Everything that I learned in my studies connected directly to my work, and the skills I gained continue to guide me, even in a different role and department,” Jackie said.
“I often reflect on my training, the lessons and the people who taught me - my lecturer, my manager and my co-workers, because the knowledge and experience I gained from each of them has shaped me in ways I still carry today.”
The traineeship experience has had a lasting impact on both Jackie’s confidence and career direction.
“For years I doubted whether this path was even possible, but now I’ve gained a new confidence in myself and in the skills I’ve developed.”
Congratulations, Jackie!
