Our Koomba Birdal (Big Spark) program is continuing into Semester 2, 2026 — with applications now open!
We’re hosting a drop-in Information Session for anyone wanting to learn more about the program, Semester 2 courses, and the pathways available into training, apprenticeships, employment, and more.
Koomba Birdal is a culturally safe training and career pathway for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, supporting students to access training, build confidence, and connect into real opportunities for further study and employment.
This Semester, we’re offering pathways into:
- Certificate II in Engineering Pathways (Midland campus)
- Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start) (Electrotechnology Pre-apprenticeship) – sponsored by Powering Australia (East Perth campus)
- Certificate II in Construction Pathways – funded by the Construction Training Fund Construction Careers Scholarship Program (Balga campus)
We’ll also be joined by industry and support organisations including Powering Australia, Construction Training Fund (CTF), Indigenous Youth Mobility Pathways (IYMP), Ebenezer Aboriginal Corporation, Services Australia Indigenous Services, and North Metropolitan TAFE construction, engineering, and energy experts — the people directly involved in delivering and supporting these training pathways.
Where: Future Trades Workshop, Balga Campus
When: Tuesday 9 June 2026 at 3.00pm – 5.00pm (drop-in session)
This is a relaxed drop-in session - come through at any time during the event window, have a yarn, ask questions, and connect with the team.
