On campus

This course requires your attendance in class for 2 days per week when studied full time.   

At-home study

As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 4 - 6 hours of additional study each week outside of scheduled classes, including private study, assignment preparation, and research.

A North Metropolitan TAFE Advanced Diploma qualifies you for entry into undergraduate degrees at all WA universities. 

Upon successful completion of CPP60121 Advanced Diploma of Surveying at NMTAFE, you will meet university entrance requirements and may be eligible for advanced standing/ credit into undergraduate Surveying or Mine and Engineering Surveying degrees.  The major and minor subjects you choose to study as part of your degree will influence the amount of credit you will be awarded.

Advanced Diploma qualifications may be awarded credit for up to 16 units, which is equivalent to a study reduction of 2 years at university.

Please note articulation agreements between NMT and individual universities may be subject to change and you should check with your preferred university for details.

Study outside of class hours, including private study, assignment preparation, and research will be required to successfully complete your course.

Bring your own device (BYOD) is encouraged but not essential. If you don’t have access to a computer and WiFi at home, we recommend using our library computers during library hours.

As a student you will also have additional costs associated with your study, for example text books and stationery, printing and other materials required for your assignments.

Additional costs include:

• Survey bond of $200 to be paid at start of course. This bond can carry over from the Diploma of Surveying and will be refunded on course completion, provided there have been no equipment breakages.​ ​
• A scientific calculator. Indicative cost (student price) for a bundled package (calculator & software) is approximately $249.00. This is a course requirement and further information regarding brand and software is provided on enrolment.
