Become industry-ready for a career in personal training
The Certificate IV in Fitness provides the practical skills and knowledge to work as a personal trainer. You will learn how to design, deliver and evaluate safe and effective exercise programs for a range of clients, including older adults, adolescents, people with disability, sport performance clients and general population clients.
You could work in gyms, recreation centres, sporting clubs, private fitness businesses, outdoor training environments, online coaching or as a self-employed personal trainer delivering one-on-one or group training.
At North Metropolitan TAFE, you will train in fully equipped gym facilities, work with real clients, complete work placement and begin building professional networks in the fitness industry.
Our experienced lecturers will support you to develop the practical, professional and business skills needed to become industry-ready.
Develop practical and professional skills to work as a personal trainer, including:
- Personalised fitness program design and delivery
- One-on-one and small group training
- Strength and conditioning principles
- Training older adults, adolescents and clients with diverse needs
- Safe use of indoor and outdoor fitness equipment
- Working with allied health professionals and referral networks
- Client motivation and behaviour change support
- Sales, marketing and business skills to build your client base
