You'll be able to access your personal timetable (find out how on our Timetables page), once you have paid your fees. In the meantime the information below provides an indication of the time commitment required to complete this course, depending on available study options.

On campus

You are required to attend orientation, where important information will be provided regarding timetables and uniforms. 

This course requires in-class attendance four days per week, including two full days and two half days, over two semesters when studied full-time. 

Practical training
You must participate in training and assessment at the on-campus Live Works Pavilion Restaurant and Chalk and Cheese Cafe to develop practical skills and gain hands-on experience

Joondalup students
You must participate in one lunchtime and one evening service at The Pavilion Restaurant. Please note that evening classes run until 10:00 PM.

Perth students
You must participate in one lunchtime service at Chalk and Cheese Café and either a lunch or evening service at The Pavilion Restaurant. Please note that evening classes run until 10:00 PM.

Continuing students for Certificate IV Hospitality Stage 2 training will be held at Joondalup campus.

At-home study 

As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete additional study each week outside of scheduled classes, including private study, assignment preparation, and research. 

Traineeships

Traineeships are primarily work-based learning, where you participate in on-site visits or collaborate online with lecturers. Lecturers assist in creating personalised learning plans to guide your progress through the units.

Upon enrolment, you'll have access to an online learning system, providing learning materials and assessments.

Under traineeship arrangements, employers must support you in completing your qualification. This includes aligning your work tasks with the qualification, providing supervision and recognising training time as work hours. Employers should allocate part of the workday for TAFE training.

All work placements for Hospitality students take place in our on-campus Pavilion Restaurant, providing hands-on experience to develop your practical skills. Joondalup restaurant classes run until 10:00 PM, one night per week.

Your placement will run throughout the semester and times will depend on unit/s timetabling.

Bring your own device (BYOD) is encouraged but not essential. If you don’t have access to a computer and WiFi at home, we recommend using our library computers during library hours.

As a student you will also have additional costs associated with your study, for example text books and stationery, printing and other materials required for your assignments.
