You'll be able to access your personal timetable (find out how on our Timetables page), once you have paid your fees. In the meantime the information below provides an indication of the time commitment required to complete this course, depending on available study options.

Online

To successfully complete the course, it's recommended you have access to a PC, Laptop or Chromebook with a camera and microphone (inbuilt or separate) with reliable internet access. Tablets are not recommended.

Collaborate sessions (online with a lecturer) are held six times per term (across all units) and are recorded. 
Online delivery is not self-paced and assessments have due dates throughout the semester. 
Resources and materials are made available to all students on enrolment in the unit.

Unit availability is once per year (semester one unit release and semester two unit release).

To complete the course online within one year, you'll need to:

• Attend regularly to scheduled online sessions
• Spend 10 - 12 hours per week individual study
• Complete 5 - 6 units per semester (6 months)

To spread the course online over two years, you'll need to:

• Attend regularly to scheduled online sessions
• Spend 4 - 6 hours per week individual study
• Complete 2 - 3 units per semester (6 months)

At-home study

Study outside of class hours, including private study, assignment preparation, and research will be required to successfully complete your course.

Traineeship delivery

Traineeships primarily involve work-based learning, where you'll participate in on-site visits or collaborate online with lecturers. Lecturers assist in creating personalised learning plans to guide your progress through the units.
Upon enrolment, you'll have access to an online learning system, providing learning materials and assessments.

Under traineeship arrangements, employers must support you in completing your qualification. This includes aligning your work tasks with the qualification, providing supervision and recognising training time as work hours. Employers should allocate part of the workday for TAFE training.

This course provides a range of opportunities to gain employment in law firms or government departments as a paralegal or administration support for a legal team. Other job titles may include:

• Receptionist | Front Desk Support Staff (to a legal practitioner in public or private enterprise) 
• Legal Services Support Officer

Bring your own device (BYOD) is encouraged but not essential. If you don’t have access to a computer and WiFi at home, we recommend using our library computers during library hours.

As a student you will also have additional costs associated with your study, for example text books and stationery, printing and other materials required for your assignments.
