You'll be equipped with the in-depth skills needed to work in a wide range of complex settings and contexts. This course builds on the Certificate IV and provides greater employment opportunities.

This course is low fee* for residents of Western Australia and temporary residents holding certain visa types. An annual fee cap of $400 for those aged 15-24 or concession holders or $1,200 for everyone else, applies to this course. Some eligibility conditions apply for the low fee training and other fees may apply for some courses. Please refer to the FAQs(opens in a new tab) for more information.

Build on your Auslan skills to open up employment opportunities
This diploma will provide you with the skills to use Auslan in a range of specialised, complex and technical workplace exchanges across personal, learning, employment, social and community contexts. You will be able to gain employment in a role requiring knowledge of Auslan and use your skills in a wide range of contexts.
The Diploma of Auslan builds on Certificate IV in Auslan and provides a greater opportunity for employment in a role requiring Auslan comprehension.
- Converse in Auslan at a proficient level
- Communicate according to Deaf protocol
- Analyse the semantics and sociolinguistics of Auslan
- Apply Auslan in employment, learning, personal and social and community purposes
- Communicate in Auslan with increasing independence
- Develop fluent Auslan signing skills
- Source and use information about deafblindness and communication methods
