Gain the skills needed to be successful in this in-demand industry
Extend your networking foundations with hands-on training across Cisco, Microsoft Server, VMware, and Linux. Work on a dedicated training network, provide real help-desk support, and graduate job-ready — with many students securing employment before they finish the course.
This is the Diploma where networking goes from “I understand it” to “I can run it.” You’ll manage complex networks, configure virtualisation, administer Microsoft 365, and work with Linux and VMware, all while embedding industry standards into your daily practice. You’ll also gain real-world help desk experience — with many graduates securing employment before they even finish.

I have attended the end of year graduations of students from North Metropolitan TAFE for the Cert IV in Programming, Cert IV in Web Based Technologies, Diploma of Software Development and Diploma of Website Development. As part of the experience, I see their end of year projects demonstrated and have the opportunity to question them on what they have built and the extent of their knowledge. Those students are Industry ready. I have attended for at least the past four years, probably longer, and continue to be impressed with what I see. The courses get stronger each year, and the students graduating have a lot to offer.
Michelle Sandford, Chairman of the Australian Computer Society in WA, and Microsoft STEM Advocate
“I began my journey at North Metro TAFE in 2020, taking a Cisco short course at night as I had an interest in IT and wanted to improve my basic networking skills. I enjoyed both the course and the experience so much I decided I wanted to make a new career out of it, switching to full-time study to complete a Certificate IV then Diploma in IT Networking.
The lecturing staff are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and are always willing to share their insights and industry expertise. The Diploma course also gave me the opportunity to gain real-world practical experience working with a major MSP while I completed my studies through one of several internship programs on offer.
As well as preparing me to sit the exams for several highly regarded industry certifications, the fantastic learning environment gave me the chance to get hands-on training with many of the technologies I’ll now be working with as an IT professional,.
I’ve really enjoyed my time at North Metro TAFE and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to expand their qualifications or even switch to a new career path, as I have.”
