Hairdressing and Barbering

By completing one of North Metropolitan TAFE’s hairdressing or barbering courses, you will gain the skills and knowledge to create unique hairstyles, making people look and feel confident with their hairdo. Our hairdressing and barbering qualifications will equip you with skills in growth industries of beauty and grooming, skills that can take you anywhere.

Our programs provide hands-on, practical experience to ensure you develop the skills in specialised hair design and cutting, colouring and colour correction, hair extensions, scalp treatments and chemical reformation.  You will also learn modern salon operations, including coordinating and training staff, technical leadership, selling products and services, client consultation and advice, supervising junior staff, reception duties, financial transactions and safe work practices.
