Do you want to build a solid base for your future?
This course offers a possible pathway to further studies for students who did not complete their secondary education.
The Certificate II in General Education for Adults assists you to develop your reading, writing, maths and employability skills to prepare you for a further study pathway. The course caters for a wide range of students within a supportive, flexible, adult learning environment.
Successful completion of this course will meet the entry requirements for most Certificate II or III TAFE courses.
All General Education students are required to participate in a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) session to determine their current LLN level. This will help determine if the course you have chosen is a good fit for you and at an appropriate level. Please note we have limited places for our courses and attending the session does not guarantee you a place.
Please note This course will only run with sufficient enrolment numbers for the intakes on each campus, and it is not equivalent to completing years 10, 11 or 12.
The Midland and Ellenbrook courses are delivered at community hubs in conjunction with external agencies and will only run with sufficient enrolments.
This course is open to all ages, however in:
- Semester 1 - you need to have turned 15 years old by January 31.
- Semester 2 - you need to have turned 15 years old by June 30.
All applicants for Midland - Swan City Youth Club must be 15 - 24 years old.
All applicants for Ellenbrook Youth Centre must be 15 - 25 years old. Priority is given to students from Ellenbrook and surrounds.
We also recommend that you have the following attributes:
- A desire to build confidence and re-engage with learning
- A desire to prepare for participation in further education (TAFE course)
- A desire to prepare for participation in employment
- Able to monitor and review own performance in achieving learning goals
