CHC32015 Certificate III in Community Services
This certificate provides a foundational skill set and knowledge base to enter a challenging yet rewarding career as a support worker. Learn to provide quality client support, empowering and facilitating their interests and advocating for their needs.

This course is low fee* for residents of Western Australia and temporary residents holding certain visa types. An annual fee cap of $400 for those aged 15-24 or concession holders or $1,200 for everyone else, applies to this course. Some eligibility conditions apply for the low fee training and other fees may apply for some courses. Please refer to the FAQs(opens in a new tab) for more information.

There is an ongoing skill shortage in Community Services
When you complete the Certificate III in Community Services you'll be on your way to a career as a community services worker, support worker, or client liaison officer.
You will also gain an understanding of youth work, mental health and alcohol and drug services.
This entry-level course is ideal for students seeking employment in the community services sectors. The course also offers an ideal pathway into higher-level community services qualifications.
- Interpersonal skills to work in residential and community settings with clients
- Identify their needs and plan and develop appropriate services
- Insight into the community services sector
- Learn about the ethical and legal responsibilities of community workers
Prior to enrolment into this qualification, please consider:
- If you are under 18 years of age
- Any criminal conviction as it will appear on your National Police Certificate (compulsory to obtain)
- Any difficulty in communicating with either workers or clients. (I.e. difficulty with written or spoken English
- Difficulty with the manual tasks involved in personal care work, including lifting (e.g. 'bad back')
- Ability to set aside between four and five days/week for attendance at classes, work placement and study
- Likelihood of finding it difficult or distressing to provide personal care such as toileting and bathing for clients of any gender and varying ages
- Ability to attend your work placement regularly and reliable
- If you have the following attributes:
- Positive, can-do approach, and a friendly, caring attitude
- Respectful, resilient and empathetic
- Sound, sensible decision-making skills
- A non-judgmental attitude and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Able to demonstrate good judgment and common sense in dynamic and challenging environments
- Sound understanding of the importance of personal and professional boundaries
