Expand your expertise in conservation and ecosystem management through advanced technical and project-based learning. You’ll develop skills in planning, coordinating and implementing conservation activities, supporting environmental projects and contributing to the sustainable management of natural resources.
This qualification provides you with the practical skills and knowledge to coordinate and supervise operations in your chosen field of conservation and ecosystem management. You’ll build advanced knowledge, technical expertise and decision-making skills, while further developing your ability to plan and coordinate environmental projects, apply specialised conservation practices and contribute to the sustainable management of natural resources and ecosystems.
If you’re looking to enhance your professional capabilities, broaden your career opportunities or progress towards supervisory, project coordination or leadership-focused roles, this qualification can help you build the skills you need to progress within the conservation and environmental management industry.
As part of this course, you’ll undertake three units designed to meet the Department of Health requirements for gaining a Pest Management Technician Licence, allowing you to control weeds and other minor pests in lawns and gardens, landscaping, bushland or mine site rehabilitation.
You’ll learn from highly experienced lecturers and have access to extensive resources to help you develop practical, industry-relevant skills.
Please note, that you will be enrolled in a dual qualification which includes Certificate IV in Conservation and Ecosystem Management and Certificate IV in Horticulture. Upon successful completion of one additional unit from Certificate IV in Conservation and Ecosystem Management, students will receive both qualifications. Additional details will be provided during Orientation.
This qualification will allow you to develop a broad range of industry skills and knowledge including:
- Plan the implementation of revegetation works
- Conduct a site inspection for ecological restoration
- Develop procedures to minimise risks in the use of chemicals
- Define the pest problem
- Sample soils and interpret results
- Maintain Work Health and Safety processes
- Control weeds
- Transport, handle and store chemicals
- Prepare and apply chemicals to control weeds, pests and diseases
