Land a lead role in conservation

This qualification will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to coordinate and supervise operations in your chosen field of Conservation and Ecosystem Management.

As part of this course you will undertake three units that have been designed to meet the Department of Health requirements to gain a Pest Management Technician Licence to control weeds and other minor pests in lawns and gardens, landscaping, bushland or minesite rehabilitation.

All of our classes have extensive resources and are run by highly experienced lecturers.

Please note, that you will be enrolled in a dual qualification which includes Certificate IV in Conservation and Ecosystem Management and Certificate IV in Horticulture. Upon successful completion of one additional unit from Certificate IV in Conservation and Ecosystem Management, students will receive both qualifications. Additional details will be provided during Orientation.

This qualification will allow you to develop a broad range of industry skills and knowledge including:

  • Plan the implementation of revegetation works
  • Conduct a site inspection for ecological restoration
  • Develop procedures to minimise risks in the use of chemicals
  • Define the pest problem
  • Sample soils and interpret results
  • Maintain Work Health and Safety processes
  • Control weeds
  • Transport, handle and store chemicals
  • Prepare and apply chemicals to control weeds, pests and diseases
