Individuals must provide evidence of their technical and organisational skills to conceptualise and create works in selected medium.

Skills and knowledge may have been acquired through experience in creative practice or formal study.

On campus

This course requires your attendance in class for 14 hours a week, generally over 3 - 4 days per week.

Please note that this course is not offered in Semester 2, 2026. Future dates for Semester 1, 2027 will be considered and, if available, are expected to be released around September.

At-home study

As well as the in class component, you will need to complete approximately 4 - 6 hours per week of additional study (outside of scheduled classes), including private study, assignment preparation, and research

A North Metropolitan TAFE Diploma qualifies you for entry into undergraduate degrees at all WA universities.

Upon successful completion of CUA51120 Diploma of Visual Arts (Jewellery Design) at NMTAFE, you will meet university entrance requirements and may be eligible for advanced standing/ credit into undergraduate Design degrees.  The major and minor subjects you choose to study as part of your degree will influence the amount of credit you will be awarded.  
Diploma qualifications may be awarded credit for up to 8 units, which is equivalent to a study reduction of 1 year at university.

Please note articulation agreements between NMT and individual universities may be subject to change, and you should check with your preferred university for details.

Study outside of class hours, including private study, assignment preparation, and research will be required to successfully complete your course.

Bring your own device (BYOD) is encouraged but not essential.
If you don’t have access to a computer and WiFi at home, we recommend using our library computers during library hours.

As a student you will also have additional costs associated with your study, for example text books and stationery, printing and other materials required for your assignments.
