Balga

18 Loxwood Road, Balga WA 6061  |  Locked Bag 6, Northbridge WA 6865

Balga is an Aboriginal word for the grass tree Xanthorrhoea Preissii.

Our Balga campus is a hub of building and construction training where you can specialise in trades including bricklaying, carpentry, electrical, glazing, plumbing, plastering, tiling and craft trades, just to name a few.

You’ll learn in contemporary facilities and on state-of-the-art equipment, so you’ll graduate with the industry-relevant trades skills.

Balga is also home to lots of our international and migrant students who are learning English skills through the Adult Migrant English Program and the Skills for Education and Employment program.

This lively and diverse campus is also set for an upgrade, with a $32 million investment into new facilities and buildings as part of the State Government’s Rebuilding our TAFEs program.

Located in F Block on our Balga campus, the centre provides free professional and practical advice on training and employment opportunities including careers advice, apprenticeship and training information. Support services for employers and businesses, as well as specialist services for Aboriginal people, ex-offenders, and people from a culturally or linguistically diverse background are also available.

For more detail and opening times, see the Jobs and Skills Centres(opens in a new tab) page.

Our 1400 square metre plumbing training facility is one of the best of its kind in the state.

The facility facilitates flexible teaching and learning practices with classrooms opening into the workshop area. There is also an external covered area to practice trenching and sewerage piping, with an overhead sprinkler system to keep the sand damp while digging.

Why not do something for yourself while supporting our students? Our hairdressing salon located in C Block, is open to students and members of the public.

You can get your hair done by our students for a reduced rate.

Find out more on our Life at NMTAFE page.
